Hey guys, what's up? It's me Emma :)
Welcome to the very first editing advice blog post here on my blog. Hopefully you guys learn something new, or get awesome ideas from these posts.
Let's get started.
------------------------------------------
Today, I kind of want to tell you guys my opinions on editing, and how I got into it just to give a bit of an introduction to it all.
How I got into editing
As a fairly young, pre teen, I had a huge interest in online videos, and, at the beginning, funny skits, so after I got my first laptop and webcam I went straight to making my own videos. For me it was an escape, and something fun to do in my free time, I remember making music videos with pictures off google so I could memorise lyrics to my favourite songs, news shows set in my Grandma's house, and even just skits with my school friends. I made all these using the super old version of Windows Movie Maker, like most people do.
When I found kinztube, I was glad to see there was an editing aspect to things. Like many, I started with Windows Movie Maker, when I joined, I didn't even know what Sony Vegas was. A couple of months into kinztube, around christmas time I think, I got sony vegas. At first it was just a jumbled mess of effects and layers that I did not understand, but I was patient and decided to teach myself how to use, and take advantage of all the tools. Most the effects you see in my videos are the results of my ideas and creativity! (And 3 years of experience)
Now, editing is one of my favourite past times, as I can just spend hours doing what I love!
My Opinions on editing
I just want to address one thing before I start teaching you guys anything. Sony Vegas does NOT provide you with pre made effects, you must use the tools they give you to make them YOURSELF! Sorry if that sounds rude at all, but it annoys me how people think that as soon as you get an expensive editor everything is handed to you on a plate. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It requires hours of patience to edit, sometimes with very little results, you start with a completely blank canvas to work on, and you have to work it all out.
Future of this blog
But... I want to help you guys get started! So if you want, comment below any requests. If I do not get any, I will take them directly from my youtube comments :)
Stay tuned next week, where I give you guys some editing tips.
Emma :)
